What it is
An ancient wheat species (Triticum spelta): nuttier, older, marketed as gentler — and still wheat where it counts, gluten and allergens included. A wheat-allergic dog should be assumed spelt-reactive; the marketing distinction is not an immunological one.
Why it's in pet food
Ancient-grain positioning with real whole-grain nutrition. As a grain it's perfectly respectable; as an escape hatch from wheat sensitivity it's a false door.
