choline chloride

Vitamin

Choline chloride is the premix's heavyweight — a vitamin-like nutrient needed in gram quantities, first among supplements by sheer weight.

Also appears on labels as: choline

What it is

Choline, an essential nutrient adjacent to the B vitamins — building block of cell membranes and the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, and the liver's fat-export machinery. Requirements run a hundredfold above true vitamins, which is why choline chloride often leads the supplement section of an ingredient list by weight.

Why it's in pet food

A genuine requirement too large for base ingredients to reliably cover. Its high position among the supplements is arithmetic, not emphasis — grams versus the milligrams and micrograms around it.

How Bowlmark scores it

Scores are deterministic math over the printed label — the rules below apply to every product identically, and nothing estimates or fills in a blank.

Neutral. A reading note the aisle needs: supplements are listed by weight like everything else, so choline chloride appearing 'above' other vitamins signals its dose scale, not its importance ranking. The engine reads no hierarchy into premix ordering, and neither should you.
