fish broth

Fish

Fish broth is flavor and moisture in wet food — nearly no nutrition, and no score movement. How Bowlmark treats broths.

Also appears on labels as: fish stock

What it is

Fish broth is the cooking liquid of fish — water carrying flavor, aroma, and a trace of protein. In wet food it is the moisture base that makes pâtés spreadable and gravies pourable.

Why it's in pet food

Wet food needs a liquid phase, and broth does the job while making the food smell like something a cat will cross a room for. Nutritionally it is close to a rounding error; functionally it earns its slot.

How Bowlmark scores it

Scores are deterministic math over the printed label — the rules below apply to every product identically, and nothing estimates or fills in a blank.

Fish broth moves no score: broth contexts are excluded from the named-protein bonus by design (a broth is not a protein source), and "fish broth" is not among the unnamed-fish terms — the mammal side flags "meat broth", but no fish-broth rule exists today.
