What it is

Pea flour is whole peas ground fine — carrying the pea's starch and protein together, unlike the separated protein and fiber fractions. Labels may also say ground peas or ground yellow peas.

Why it's in pet food

It binds and bulks grain-free kibble while contributing plant protein. As the least-processed pea fraction it is the most honest one — but it still counts toward the same fraction arithmetic.
