What it is
Spinach, fresh or dried: iron, carotenoids, vitamin K, folate — and the leafy aisle's highest oxalate concentration by a wide margin. Oxalates bind calcium and, in susceptible animals, participate in calcium-oxalate urolith formation; in healthy pets at recipe doses they pass without ceremony.
Why it's in pet food
Real nutrient density and the strongest green-vegetable brand in the produce section. Recipes use modest inclusions where the oxalate math is a rounding error; the caution belongs to generous home feeding and to pets with stone history.
